ICT provider Converged Communications Solutions has expanded into new office premises in Aberdeen to accommodate the firm’s continued growth.
It has moved from shared office space into its own larger headquarters at Merchants House in Aberdeen’s Waterloo Quay. The firm says the move has been prompted by significant growth in the past year and recent contract awards, and is eying further growth over 2015.
Converged provides Internet connections, telephone systems and IT support services and has secured contracts with a combined value of more than £450,000.
This includes a three-year deal worth £300,000 to provide Gigabit Internet connectivity to international engineering consultancy Xodus Group. The contract covers the Aberdeen-headquartered firm’s six UK offices, which are spread from Orkney to London, with long distance connections delivered by SSE Telecoms. The firms have had a working partnership since 2005, when both were established.
After starting as a two-man operation ten years ago, staff numbers at the firm have increased to 20. Over the last year, four new employees have joined to support the increased business levels. Converged is predicting that it will grow further over the coming year, as more firms invest in connectivity by utilising the UK government’s Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme.
Aberdeen is one of 22 UK cities to benefit from the £150million scheme which offers grants of up to £3,000 for the implementation of better connectivity and faster broadband speeds. The initiative was recently extended by a further 12 months until March 2016, and now also covers parts of Aberdeenshire.
Converged’s technical director and co-founder, Neil Christie, said: “The move to larger premises in Merchants House comes as Converged enters the next phase of its development. To support our future expansion we have continued to invest in the development of our extremely strong technical team, which accounts for three-quarters of our staff. I’m excited and proud to call these historic surroundings home to our expanded workforce.
“We’re very pleased to be continuing our long-term relationship with Xodus Group. Both firms commenced trading around the same time and it has been very satisfying to assist Xodus Group in achieving its growth to date and look forward to aiding future expansion.
“Businesses are beginning to realise the importance of reliable and fast Internet connections and the government-backed Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme is a great opportunity to invest in this. One Gigabit connectivity is available now in Aberdeen, but firms need to ensure they are being offered and paying for a connection that suits their specific needs and not one that delivers speeds they will not fully utilise.”
