A North-east property development and commercial leasing company has received a prestigious award for promoting healthy working and well being in the workplace.
Waterloo Quay Properties, which is based at the city’s harbour side, has recently been awarded the Healthy Working Lives (HWL) bronze award by NHS Grampian.
The HWL programme, which is part of NHS Health Scotland, encourages employers to promote a healthier workforce, and covers a wide range of topics, including health promotion, occupational health and safety, mental health and well-being, community involvement, and health and the environment.
Waterloo Quay Properties organised various initiatives to secure the award, including a quit smoking group, a blood drive, suicide awareness training course and a food drive, with several of their tenants, N-SYS, Genesis Personnel, BW Offshore and Harkland ISS, participating in many of the events.
The firm has also created a healthy recipe folder, a healthy heart information folder, a lunchtime walking group and also organised a virtual ‘Walk to Rome’, where they collaboratively walked 1574 miles from Aberdeen to Rome. Waterloo Quay also participated in various charity events including, Jeans for Genes day and Wig Wednesday for CLIC Sargent, helping to raise money for local causes.
Managing director at Waterloo Quay Properties, Anna-Marie Eardley, said: “Since launching the property business in 2008, Waterloo Quay Properties has continued to look for ways to enhance its service offering for both its employees and tenants on-site, with the aim to make their staffs’ working lives easier. Securing the Healthy Working Lives award is just another part of this, and I am delighted to be part of the scheme, which is proving to be a real benefit for our workforce and our tenants.
“It has been fantastic to work and engage with our tenants on many of the initiatives and events and we already have plans to work together to organise future events that help to promote a happy and healthy environment.”
Waterloo Quay Properties, which was established in 2008, owns 10 properties along Waterloo Quay, accommodating 30 tenants in its striking traditional granite buildings. The firm is not only committed to improving the working lives for its own employees, but it also continues to improve its service offering for all clients, with exceptional on-site facilities, including large on-site catering facilities, fully equipped gymnasium and squash courts and several meeting rooms.
